Description

A CH-47 Chinook at sunset. This is what my husband flies. The chinook is my least favorite part of this - but then, for my first attempt at any type of vehicle whatsoever, I suppose it ain't too bad.

Please feel free to tell me what I could do to improve. :) Thanks!

Yeah, the water is done almost exclusively in Painter... after about 5 different tries with different techniques, I was finally happy with this one. And no, certainly not landing in the water. Chinooks just love to hover. I asked one, once. :)

Don't take this wrong. Parts of the image looks like a painting and others look photographic. So it adds a sorta friction or uneasiness to the image. I think either loosen up a bit more on the water or tighten up more on the clouds to give it less tension. The image is practically split along the horizon between real and unreal. So I give you an 8.

the parts dont fit together ....lighting, the consistence/details of each parts are totally different.
work on the clouds and remove your own water reflections as they are misplaced and dont fit to the water photo.

The water looks so damn real... how did you create it? It looks as if you used software like terra gen or how it's called, very realistic ^_^
Or is it a photo like xeN said?
To be honest it doesn't look like a photo to me, but it looks real, hehe my eyes trick me again

Yep, you all are definitely right. I'm still working on my techniques as far as backgrounds go, and I can see that the sky doesn't necessarily fit that well with the water. I spent a LOT more time on the water, making it and re-making it... that was probably my problem. I got ... sick of the clouds, truthfully. :p

But no, the water isn't a photo. Good to know it turned out well enough to look like one, though. Except for the reflections, apparently, which I didn't redo along with the rest of the water the last time - I was happy enough with them, but I suppose that made them stand out.

Reilachan, the water was painted little bit by little bit using a reference photo. I tried doing broader, easier ways and not using a reference so much... but the water just never looked right. So, I whipped out a photo and referenced it. That's how the final version of the water was produced.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful comments and the votes. :)
